How long is the season?
Classes run from September to June.
Is there a recital?
Yes, there will be a recital every June, at the end of our dance season!
Will my child be competing?
For the time being, we are a non-competitive studio.
Will there be a costume fee?
Yes. We aim to keep costs below $30/number for our mini dancers and between $45-$75/number for our older dancers. Costs will vary based on style (ballet costumes tend to be more expensive) and age (the younger the dancer, the cheaper the costume).
Will my child need to wear make-up?
For performances, yes. Mini dancers will need just a touch of mom's blush, red lipstick and (maybe) mascara. Older dancers will require full makeup. We have a Hair & Makeup Guide to help our dance families prepare.
Are parents allowed in the studio while classes are on?
With the exception of parented classes, we ask that parents stay outside the studio during class time. Students (particularly younger ones) are easily distracted by the presence of their parents.
If my child misses class, can they make it up?
Unfortunately, we are unable to schedule make-up classes at this time. However, there may be another scheduled class available for your dance to attend for one week. We ask that each family do their best to attend every class of the season.
What should my child wear?
Click here to see our detailed dress code.
Clothes suitable for exercise: Bodysuits, tights, tank tops, leggings, and shorts are all acceptable. Students should be dressed for dance; not wearing the same clothes they wore to school.
Shoes
Wearing the right dance shoes helps keep your feet safe and reduces the chance of injuries, while also making it easier to perform the specific moves for each type of dance. It is necessary that Ballet students wear Ballet shoes, Jazz students wear Jazz shoes, Tap students wear Tap shoes and Hip-Hop students wear clean indoor sneakers. Students in any other class should have bare feet.
Shoes can be found at a variety of dance stores around the city (All 4 Dance, Adajio and On Stage) or, for cheaper options, try Walmart, SuperStore and Dollarama. We also have a supply of donated shoes on hand. Ask us if we have your dancer’s size!
How will I be kept updated?
There will be a monthly newsletter sent via email plus extra emails and texts for special circumstances. Updates will also be made on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
